Hollywood Arts Council

The Hollywood Arts Council was founded in 1978 to address the role of the arts in Hollywood. Over its 33 years the Council has developed into an action-oriented organization working towards benefitting the Hollywood community through the use and support of the arts.

Throughout the years, the Council has initiated a number of projects.  These include Discover Hollywood Magazine, which just published its 25th anniversary issue, the annual Children’s Festival of the Arts, which in August celebrated its 26th year, and the 10 years-old Project S.O.A.R.  The acronym stands for Students Overcoming All Risks, and the program involves afterschool arts programs funded and provided by the Hollywood Arts Council for Hollywood-area schools.  In this time of reduced or even non-existent arts programs in school, Project S.O.A.R. is more important than ever.

Other Hollywood Arts Council projects include Community Mural Projects, the Jazz Pilgrimage Concert at the Ford, the annual Charlie Awards Luncheon, which honors achievements in the arts in Hollywood, the Hollywood Arts Affair, the Hollywood Bowl and CityWalk Arts Fairs, the Picture Hollywood Photo Exhibit, the Hollywood Blvd. Banner Project, and the L.A. Marathon Hollywood Entertainment Stage.

By attending the various events we plan to host in the coming years, you are allowing us to continue upholding our mission: to promote, nurture, and support the arts in and of Hollywood.
